Jesus, the Bread of Life (John 6:35)

In John 6:35, Jesus declares, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.” This statement follows the feeding of the 5,000, where Jesus provides physical bread but points to a deeper spiritual reality.Jesus uses the metaphor of bread to reveal that He is essential for spiritual life. Just as bread sustains the body, Christ sustains the soul. Coming to Him means acknowledging our spiritual hunger and relying on Him for eternal satisfaction. This passage invites us to consider what we are feeding our souls. Are we seeking fulfillment in earthly things that cannot satisfy, or are we coming to Christ, the true Bread of Life? Only He can meet our deepest needs and provide eternal life.Reflecting on this statement encourages us to rest in Christ’s sufficiency. As we partake of Him through faith, we are nourished and strengthened for the journey of life. Jesus’ words remind us to seek Him daily, trusting that He alone satisfies the soul’s hunger.
